- IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an English examination, which is internationally recognised. An IELTS score is used to satisfy the minimum entry requirements for study at university or a vocational college, or for migration purposes.
- The IELTS exam consists of 4 papers, namely Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
- To study at an Australian university, you should normally have a minimum of IELTS 6.5 on the Academic IELTS. Similarly, vocational courses (certificate and diploma courses, or VET) and Foundation Studies programs normally require an IELTS 5.5. If you do not meet these English language requirements, you could study more English in Australia, often in an EAP (English for Academic Purposes) class.
